Ep 36: Mental health advocate & writer Charlotte Underwood

Julie talks to Charlotte Underwood, a 23-year-old mental health advocate and writer who opens up about her experiences with anxiety, depression and addiction. As a teenager Charlotte was an outsider who didn’t fit in and for years she was the target of school bullies who didn’t like that she was different. At the age of 14 she was self-harming and abusing alcohol and was generally living a pretty reckless life trying desperately to feel like she belonged. She’s come a long way since then – using writing as a form of self-care and sharing her story as way to break down the stigma and shame of mental illness.
